Key Topics Covered: advanced motivational interviewing techniques, advanced health navigation principles, advanced patient advocacy, advanced medical terminology, advanced documentation, comprehensive information on the healthcare system, advanced communication and interpersonal skills, trends and evolutions in healthcare navigation, current advanced challenges in healthcare and patient/health navigation, healthcare systems, governmental policies, patient rights & ethics. Advanced concepts and solutions to social determinants of health and access to care will be covered. This course is designed to assist students in understanding the more advanced and specialized role of the patient/health navigator in multiple healthcare settings. This course will also include basic data collection and management concepts for navigators.
